WHat is the lymphatic system?
The lymphatic system cleanses cells throughout the body. It plays a vital role in maintaining healthy immunity.
The lymphatic system is a drainage system. It is closely connected with the circulatory system but interestingly enough, it's estimated that we have about 50% more lymph than blood.
All the toxic material travels through a very specific pathway through the body, passing through the lymph nodes (600-800 of them) that are like filters, cleaning out bacteria, viruses, parasites, metabolic waste, inflammatory particles, dead cell particles, large proteins and excessive toxins so that there is no build up of these materials and we stay healthy.
Ultimately, the lymph fluid drains into the blood stream at the lymphatic ducts (just behind the collar bones) and from there is eliminated from the body through the large intestine (via the stool), the kidneys (via urine), the lungs (exhalation) and the skin (sweat). This is why it is critical to support these additional elimination pathways.
When your lymphatic system is sluggish, the lymphatic fluid becomes jelled and gets stuck in different areas of the body causing inflammation or other issues to begin.
